The Shave on Fifth

While many homebuyers tend to focus on the details of the house they’re searching for, such as crown moldings and open living spaces, it’s also helpful to focus on the surrounding community. The attention to detail will define your house, but the neighborhood and the businesses you choose to frequent are what will make that house feel like home.

It has been said that behind every good man is a good woman but there’s also another saying worth repeating. Behind every good haircut is a good barber. Never heard that before? Just wait. It’ll catch on, especially if The Shave on Fifth has anything to do with it.

Started by owner Mike Maida in 2017, The Shave on Fifth provides a hot lather neck shave and warm towel massage with every haircut. If that alone isn’t enough to entice residents from all over Greenville and surrounding areas to stop by, the reflection in the mirror afterwards definitely will. Promising to keep it handsome with every visit, Mike’s talented team of Master Barbers (including himself) take traditional grooming for men to another level.

Located in a historic building at 212 East Fifth Street, the barbershop features an exposed brick wall and rich wood tones with masculine touches of iron and leather throughout. It’s a nod to the barbershops of yesterday but with an updated, much-appreciated flair. Customers can look out over Fifth Street through the large picture window while waiting for their turn in the chair. Not only is the atmosphere welcoming, but you’re able to enjoy a complimentary mug of coffee, a glass of bourbon, or a beer during the visit.

If Fifth Street happens to be out of your way, no worries. The Shave on Fifth has a second location inside Coffman’s Mens Wear off of Red Banks Road. Tucked away in a lofted space overlooking the retail operation, the barber experience is literally taken to new heights, but the results are always the same. Superb.

When it comes to purchasing a home, the transaction is so much more than a signature on paper and the handing over of keys. It’s about becoming a part of the neighborhood. It’s about embracing the existing community and anyone who has lived in or visited the Greenville area can vouch that the community is one of the best parts of being a resident here. The Shave on Fifth makes that fact look easy while ensuring you look sharp at all times.
